For years I have posted verses from the Psalms and a brief comment on Facebook and now am turning them into a blog. It is my conviction that the Psalms, as found in the Bible, are an example for us of honest communication with God. The psalmists express a wide range of emotions, circumstances, and requests. God is not afraid of our questions, doubts, or concerns. Join me as we learn from the Psalms to process our emotions through the character of God, and see him more clearly.

Psalm 93 "Floods Have Lifted Up"

Psalm for Today = 93:3-4

   The floods have lifted up, O Lord,
    the floods have lifted up their voice;
    the floods          lift    up their roaring.
     Mightier than the thunders of many waters,
    mightier than the waves     of the sea,
                          the Lord on high is mighty!

Comment:
For a psalm that begins with “The Lord reigns” and focuses on floods, it is important to get the spelling right ("reigns" not "rains")!

How many storms have come and gone often leaving catastrophic damage in your lifetime? With the Weather Channel, storm-chasers, and Doppler radar for almost every population center in the country we have a front-row seat to more dramatic weather in a week than we used to see in a decade or maybe even a lifetime.

Why are we quick to blame God for all the catastrophic storm damage but not as quick to take him as our High King in the calm?

In any event, whatever storm damage we might have suffered, whether from weather or from people, the Lord God is mightier, and in him, there is both restoration and healing!
